Eurogames

Ahh, board games.  I don't know anyone that doesn't like 'em.  I'm sure board game haters exist, but I don't know them.  I was invited to a game night by a friend last night.  We played some Eurogames.  Previous to last night I had only played Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride just a couple times.  Last night's games, however, were on a completely different level.  Thankfully, though, I was not the only person playing our two choices for the first time.

Anyway, first we played this game:

As you may have picked up from my blog background/profile pic, I am a huge fan of the Colosseum.  I was determined to like this game, and I did.  The idea is that you are basically producing events in your arena.  You can expand your arena, get season ticket holders, host the emperor, and much more--all to increase your spectator attendance.  Whoever puts on the most successfully attended event wins.  I hope to play this one again!

The second game we played was this one:

Those of you who know me may also know that Rome and King Arthur are two of my favorite...ummmm, genres?  mythologies? interests?  So this game also was a lot of fun.  In this one we all worked together to save Camelot from the forces of evil by winning as many quests as we can.  Quests include defeating the Picts or Saxons, finding the Holy Grail, getting rid of siege engines in front of the castle, defeating a dragon, etc.   This game also has the additional fun of a possible traitor in our mists.  This, of course, causes suspicion and doubt as we try to work together...always fun!
