1) My oldest friend (from 5th grade) just had her first child. Today we were blessed to attend his baptism at our church. It is still a bit crazy to see her with a baby, but I know she already is an excellent mom! It was really neat to see her son become a part of God's family today.
2) After taking a short nap after the baptism luncheon (at home...not the church, of course), Ben and I decided to go to the mall to try out Sleep Number beds. Our current mattress is rather old and just plain uncomfortable. Ben's been waking up sore and I can't get comfortable, waking up constantly. I only find comfort sleeping on my stomach, which is apparently bad for you. After testing out all their models, and lots of funny conversations with the sales ladies, Ben and I decided to purchase a new bed. Not only will it be super comfortable, with each of us able to set our own level of softness, but it will also be about a foot wider than our current full mattress--which means no more elbows in each others faces in the morning! I'll let you know when sleeping all the way through the night is the new things of the day.
3) Following church we received a text message from a friend inviting us to an impromptu end-of-summer barbecue. Since we were honestly hoping for something fun to come up, we accepted. At this party I was able to consume my first bacon/cheese stuffed hamburger. It was awesome! And just to prove that I'm a true Wisconsinite, I added a slice of cheese on top as well. I also played a new card game, Loot! Clever, quick, fun and pirate themed...what more could you want?!
Tomorrow should bring some technology related new things as it is the techno day of teacher in-service. That's right! I'm going to in-service even though I'm merely part-time elementary school with no high school responsibilities. It'll be fine I'm sure, but I'm just not looking forward to the plagiarism policy review ;-) I am, however, looking forward to the new google freeware that is available! Talk to you then!
