You may have guessed by now that I am a dedicated fan of the celebrated Harry Potter book and films. What you may not know, however, is the extent of my dedication. Well, you are about to have your eyes opened.
One of the biggest Harry Potter fan sites, The Leaky Cauldron, hosts a large HP Conference each summer. I've been wanting to go the last few years but wasn't able to spring the money for airfare, hotel, and conference registration. This year, however, things were different. The conference is in Chicago, fits in with my calendar, and I was able to get early registration. I'll have the option to commute each day, take the bus, take the train, or stay at a hotel--keeping the cost as low as I want. I am so excited to meet/see some of the actors from the film, watch StarKid perform (the people responsible for A Very Potter Musical), and participate in countless sessions on HP as well as other literature.
The only downside right now is that I am going alone. I've read and am confident that I will make instant friends while attending the conference, however, it would be great to travel with someone and have a guaranteed buddy. I thought I would use my blog to send out a plea...perhaps someone else is planning to go but, like me, had not yet made it known to the general public. If you're out there, let me know and we'll make some plans! Also, it's not too late to register. As you can see from the picture below, we still have 104 days until the fun begins!

Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI bet if you asked really nicely, you could stay with Katy. She could tell you where could park and take the train downtown.
ReplyDeleteI would go if I didn't have to fly to WI from AK!
