I now sit at Starbucks, about to dig my fork into a little slice of lemony heaven. I stopped at Gigi's Cupcakes just two doors down for this SBUX--before settling down for an afternoon of blogging, working, and emailing--and thought I'd try one of their creations. I forewent the 12 other, most likely awesome, flavors of cupcakes and settled on the Lemon Dream Supreme: Lemon cake with a lemon filling, topped with lemon butter cream frosting, yellow sugar crystals & a candied lemon slice. Since the frosting is approximately 2.5 inches above the cake, I asked my local barista for a plate and fork in an effort to keep myself presentable while consuming the treat. Excuse me while I take the first bite...
...Sorry, I had to take 4 bites before I came back to type. The lemon cake is moist and light, but frankly not much different from a typical lemon cake I make on my own. The frosting, however, is another story! It's so perfectly sweet--not too sweet or too bland--and bursting with satisfying lemon flavor. I'm glad there's 2.5 inches of frosting...and I'm glad my SBUX drink choice was rather low on sugar. Excuse me, I must have another bite...
Okay, I take back what I said about the cake. I just got to the lemon filling in the lemon cake...I had forgotten that was coming. This is awesome. I'm going to post the pictures and then go finish eating my Lemon Dream Supreme.
ANGELA'S CORNER OF SELF-DISCOVERY: This isn't really new discovery, per se, but I've realized yet again that I am incapable of focusing on certain tasks at home. That is why I have sequestered myself with a cupcake at Starbucks where I intend to "travel back in time" and catch up on the many new things that have been going on over the past month.
