I have to admit I felt a bit old today, for the first real time. People say they feel old all the time...but today, I truly did, for just second, before I remembered that I'm not yet 30 and the world lies open before me like an oyster....or something like that. Anyway, I felt old today when I sat in as a ringer with my old college band. I looked around and realized that many of the students I taught in 5th or 6th grade were now college students, playing right along with me. I felt the idea old age tug at my consciousness, but then I realized how cool this really is...to be playing beautiful music with younger people who you may have helped appreciate music a bit more themselves.
I then came home and wrapped the present for a dear friend's son's 1st birthday! This doesn't really make me feel old, but super excited. He's getting older which means I can buy him funner toys, do more exciting stuff when I babysit, teach him silly things to say to his parents, and get him started on percussion lessons. This will be the first friend's kid's birthday party that I've ever gone to (sorry, Cassie, that I haven't made it by you yet) and this is the first 1st birthday card I've made. I hope you all enjoy it and I hope nobody sees this who shouldn't. Happy Birthday, little man, happy birthday!
