On my return from LeakyCon, I was frequently asked about my favorite part. Of course it was all wonderful, but the thing that always jumped right to the front of my mind was the opportunity to meet and attend the session of
MinaLima. MinaLima is the design team behind all eight HP films. They designed all the books, posters, packages, and major props throughout the films, including every hilarious item in Wizard Wheezes...Fred and George's joke shop.
MinaLima had a booth in the vendor room displaying the first four official HP prints available in their new
Printorium. They gave all of us a special poster made especially for LeakyCon and a 15% discount on the purchase of one of the new prints. I was able to speak with Mira Mina and compliment her on their beautiful work. Mira, Eduardo and Laura presented a wonderful panel session on Saturday where they spoke with us about their histories, processes and experiences. We all loved seeing close-up images of classic pieces as well as pieces we had never had the chance to see in the films. It was especially cool to hear all about the mischievous "Ginger Witch" who made an appearance in every newspaper (and there are a lot of newspapers in HP).
The neat thing about LeakyCon is that it makes the movies, the books, and all of it so real. You get to meet authors, actors, and the designers who bring these magical worlds to life. You get to have conversations with them, laugh with them, and thank them. The only problem is that I really want to buy
this print. Guess I know what's at the top of my Christmas list.

Ohmygoodness. I'm so glad you have all these pictures. I think... because mostly I'm getting jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, don't be jealous, Claudia. Maybe we'll be able to go together sometime. That'd be really fun. Wanna go to Portland next summer?
