The Ankle, the Phone and Lawnmower

Today was a rough day for my ankle, my phone, and the burning lawnmower on the side of the road.  Experiencing my first LVW Marching Band Show in Mukwonago certainly came at a high cost.

It all started when I was giving a demonstration of how to be awesome at color guard to my girls.  Thinking I'm all that and a bag of potato chips, I was going through a crazy section of work involving bringing a 6 foot pole down from as high as I possibly could behind my back.  I failed, however, to pull my foot in before I attempted this feat of flagadry and slammed the darn thing into the outside of my left ankle.  It smarted a bit, but I shook it off and held my composure.  Moments later I looked down to see 3 bulging purple globules protruding from my ankle.  A few blood vessels ruptured and I have a pretty nasty bruise. (I'm icing it again as I type this).

The next hurdle to my perfect day can be traced back to my AC not working in my car.  Those of you who have been around the last week or so can relate to the massive discomfort I'm experiencing in my car.  My phone, constantly running bluetooth, pandora and my GPS...all while charging from the car charger, was sick of existing in a 98 degree environment  (I'm not referring to the 90s boy band), freaked out and then shut down.  This left me on my way to places I'd never been before without an idea where I was going.  I actually had to dig a map out of my glove compartment...a map...and figure out where I was going while my phone refused to come back on.  I'm happy to report that I still remembered how to fold my map when I was done, having successfully arrived at my destination, albeit 30 minutes later than I intended.

Last...the lawnmower.  Ben and I have this competition to see cars on fire.  He probably doesn't even realize I view it as a competition...but it's me...and I do.  Anyway, we're tied right now, with each of us witnessing 1 car on fire (I know, pretty intense).  Today, however, Ben will have to take second place as I saw a lawnmower on fire next to the road.  I was driving to Mukwonago, this time with my GPS working, when I noticed a trailer tipped over on the side of the road.  There was a riding lawnmower in side from which flames were flickering and smoke was smoking.  Seeing that the passengers were at a safe distance, I was hoping for an explosion as I went passed.  Sadly, there was no explosion as I would've won the fiery car contest for sure.

  1. So the AC got fixed yesterday. Very cool...

But more importantly, a lawnmower (with very few exceptions) is NOT a car. As self-proclaimed commissioner of this non-existent competition, I declare that the count remains at 1 and 1!
